Study Tips!

I have picked up some pretty unconventional study habits while being in College. Exam weeks are super stressful, so I thought I would share my strange but helpful study tips:

1. Reward yourself. For example, I have an exam everyday this week *has mini panic attack while writing* so if I study and pass them all I am rewarding myself with a mani/pedi spa day. I've found that rewarding myself motivates me to study and do well.

2. Music. When I'm studying I tend to get trapped in the white-static sounds of an empty room. Playing music while studying takes away the treacherous silence and helps stimulate brain activity. Some of my favorite artists to listen to while studying include: Frank Sinatra, Mozart, and Lennon and Maisy.  I prefer soft calming sounds and coffee shop acoustic covers, but find what fits you best.

3. Dance party. This tip is more for when you're pulling an all nighter and are about to have a mental breakdown. Instead of crying and panicking, just get up and dance Christina Yang/Meredith Grey style (Grey's Anatomy fans will understand). I'm not talking about swaying and a few turns, I'm talking about full blown dancing where if someone were to be watching they would call an ambulance because they think you're having a seizure. Let loose and dance the stress away.

I hope these tips help you as much as they help me. Remember that passing is great, but don't beat yourself up if you fail a quiz or exam, just accept it and work harder next time.

Snacks also help when you find out you passed an exam by only two points.

New Chapter: College

For most people, college is either a fight or flight experience. For me... it has been both. I attend the University of North Texas and i'm studying Business with a focus in human resource management, so basically I like to boss people around.

Check out my 1st week vlog here (

The first week of school was a sea of emotions. I had post vacation depression, post concert depression, and post leaving home depression all at the same time. After the second day I was ready to go home to my mommy. The homesickness was real. A few days full of sad songs and bathroom breakdowns with my roommate, Shelby, passed and we were both getting the hang of doing things on our own. Growing up they always tell you that in college you have to study study study, but what they really need to say is laundry laundry laundry. Never in a million years did I think that I could go through so many clothes in so little time. It was getting to the point where I was buying a new shirt everyday so I wouldn't have to wash clothes. My stress level was rising, but little did I know I was about to meet my new favorite people.

Josh (Jochua as I like to call him) and Colton danced their ways into my life (literally), and I am so happy they did. Squad -2.0, as we were kindly named, is definitely a story I am excited to see play out. From dancing in the streets to dancing in the clubs, one thing you know for sure is that we will always be dancing. Josh and I share they same personality and Colton and Shelby share the same personality, so we balance each other out perfectly. It's crazy how a week before I met them Shelby and I were packing our bags ready to go home. I definitely would not be here still if it wasn't for them.

The moral of this story is to just give things time. When you are ready to give up when life gets hard, just wait and let things play out. Life has a funny way of always working out in your favor, so give it a chance.     Until next time, Ally

Dealing With Stress

Life can get pretty stressful every now and then. Whether it is school or work, stress is stress. For me, stress comes in big tsunami tides, and when it hits it hits hard. I am only speaking from personal experience, but when I get stressed out I also become unhappy and depressed. I have a few techniques and other small things I do to distress and improve my life.

1.       As much as it may kill you to sit down and read a book, it really helps with getting your mind off of things. Think of it as a small escape from reality. For at least 30 minutes you can forget about the world around you and regroup your thoughts and feelings.

2.       Exercise is key when you are stressed. Get outside or on a treadmill and literally run your stress away. This benefits both your body mentally and physically. I have learned from personal experience that angry music helps too.

3.       Taking you back to point 1, getting caught up in a movie or television series can help you de-stress. It is not one of the healthiest choices, but hey life is too short to always pick the healthy option.

4.       Eating is definitely one of my favorite pass-times. Stress eating does not always have to be necessarily super unhealthy. Chocolate and other candy is a great stress reliever, but eat them in moderation so our de-stress run doesn’t go completely to waste. Popcorn is a personal favorite binge snack.

5.       Last but not least is a tip that does not apply to everyone. I am a dark and twisty type of person (Greys Anatomy fans will understand). I do not normally confide in people for my issues and personal problems, but that does not mean it won’t work for you. Call up a friend and have a quick chat. I am sure they are or have gone through similar situations.

I hope these few tips have helped you Get stress free and happy. Comment on this post things you do to relax or relief stress.

Life Update

It’s been many moons since my last post, so I thought I would dedicate this post to update any readers on my life.

- I have recently turned 18, and realized I have grown up both physically and mentally.

- I am in the process of converting into a minimalist lifestyle, which I will possibly do a post on in the near future. My definition for minimalism in a nutshell is: simplifying your life in any way possible. Whether it is socially, physically, or mentally. (Ex. Already got rid of two full garbage bags of old clothes... go me!).

- I am graduating High School this June. Following this post will be my senior graduation pictures for anyone interested. Which leads me to my next post…

- I am going off to Uni this fall to study, as of right now, Business Management, Human Resources, and Marketing. Pediatrics is still floating in the back of my mind.

My Addiction

So I've recently realized that I get addicted to irrelevant things VERY easily. Now you might be thinking I'm talking about drugs, alcohol, or sweets, but that is not even close.

My name is Ally and I'm addicted to movies and television shows (this is where you say "Hi Ally" in perfect  harmony).

I recently invested in a Netflix account, which probably is the best investment ever.  I get to watch whatever television show or movie I want whenever I want. And no I'm not getting paid to say that. (;

If you follow me on any social media you would know that I am a die hard Marvel fan. (I was iron man for Halloween). Now you may be asking "Ally why are you telling me this irrelevant information?" Well you see young reader, I have watched all of the Avengers movies, each individual Avenger movie, and basically the whole Avenger's franchise; Three times each in the time span of about 3-5 days. This is why I think I have a problem.

I am a teenage girl and teenage girls love soap operas. I've watched a plethora of series ranging from OITNB to Grey's Anatomy. My all time favorite series on Netflix has to be Gilmore Girls. I feel as if everyone overlooks it, which is sad because Lorelia Gilmore has to one of the best characters I've ever had the pleasure to watch grow (yes, better than both Scott brothers from One Tree Hill).

Talking about all of these shows makes me want to close the computer, jump into bed with fuzzy socks on, and binge watch all seasons of The Office. Thanks for reading. xxxx

Stars Dance Tour Experience

So around 7 weeks ago Mackenzie, Lindsey, and I went GAGA for Gomez. We attended the Houston show for the Stars Dance Tour. The acts included Christina Grimme, Emblem Three, and Selena Gomez.

Before I start on this long rant, can we talk about how Christina Grimme can rock the messy ponytail?
Anyways back to the Blog post..
Christina Started off the show singing songs that literally got everyone in the arena pumped. It truly amazed me how she can stay behind a piano for a whole song, wear normal clothes, have her hair in a simple updo, and still grasp the audience's attention the way she did. She is an EXTREMELY talented musician and I would love to see her perform again.

On to the next act....

    Emblem3 Emblem3 Emblem3 ...
They came on after Christina and kept the audience pumped. It is literally like watching 3 extremely talented chimpanzees play on a jungle gym. They are so carefree when they perform, and I think that's why people love them (other than the fact that they are extremely good looking and very talented).

Last but not least Selena! She put on a great show, and I was truely blown away. Coming from Disney, I did not expect her to sound so mature. I was definitely proven wrong. Her choreography was so intense... if that was me I would be passed out on the stage. She sang her pop/up-beat songs, and also some unplugged versions. My favorite part was when she sang Love Will Remember. The pureness of her voice was so captivating it literally brought me to tears. All-in-all Selena Gomez knows how to make you to dance and cry in the same night.

Enjoy some of my pictures from the concert:

One Direction Concert Experience

So if you follow my instagram ( or Twitter ( you would know I get a bit crazy when it comes to celebrities. I don't know why, but I just have a very strange obsession with musicians, concerts, and all things in the music industry... maybe because i'm tone deaf and jealous of everyone's angelic voices. So on that note, I thought it would be fun to take y'all back and revisit some of the awesome concerts and other celebrity encounters I've had.

(Disclaimer:  I'm not actually this creepy in real life.)

So on July 21, 2013 I went to Houston to see two little bands I like to call One Direction and 5 Seconds of Summer. (You can watch in my vlog ). Talk about emotionally unstable. It was a very entertaining concert, I mean who couldn't be entertained watching 5 gorgeous boys act like complete fools on stage? Between the "Punk rock" (; of 5SOS and the whatever genre One Direction is classified as now, the concert was an absolute blast!

Oh and did I mention Zayn totally posed for me? He is looking at me, and your disagreement is irrelevant.

So enjoy this super collage of pictures from my concert.
